About Yankee Stadium
Located on East 161st Street in the Bronx, the new Yankee Stadium opened at the start of the 2009 Major League Baseball season, replacing the original Yankee Stadium, which opened in 1923 and closed in 2008.
The Stadium’s exterior was made from 11,000 pieces of Indiana limestone, along with granite and pre-cast concrete in a design closely mirroring the exterior of the original Yankee Stadium.
The seats are laid out similarly to the original stadium's stands, with grandstand seating that stretches beyond the foul poles, as well as bleacher seats beyond the outfield fences.
The Stadium’s seating capacity is approximately 51,000, with standing room provisions bringing the total capacity to 52,325.
